Description
Guitarra Tirando – 39 Easy Guitar Pieces for Developing Free-Stroke Technique
Joep Wanders’ Guitarra Tirando contains 39 varied compositions designed to develop free-stroke technique on the classical guitar. With a tirando or free stroke, the finger moves away freely after plucking instead of coming to rest on the neighbouring string. The aim is to establish a controlled movement and a clear, even tone.
In most of the pieces, the left-hand part is deliberately kept relatively simple. This allows students to focus on the movement of the right hand and on developing a reliable free stroke. The collection covers a broad range of styles, including blues, waltz, klezmer, salsa, South American music and classical elements. Pieces such as Tirando Blues, Irish Sunset, Prelude to Asturias, Divertimento Brasileiro and the theme from Mozart’s The Magic Flute provide plenty of musical variety.
The grade 1–2 pieces can easily be used alongside most established guitar methods. Online audio recordings help students become familiar with the music and support independent practice. An enjoyable and useful collection for guitar lessons and for anyone wishing to improve their right-hand technique in a systematic way.
