Description
Heitor Villa-Lobos Douze Études for guitar - didactic edition with fingerings, edited by Frédéric Zigante
.Composed between 1924 and 1928 and first published by Éditions Max Eschig in 1953, Heitor Villa-Lobos' (1887-1959) Douze Études for guitar are among the cornerstones of the 20th century guitar repertoire. Although they each deal with specific technical aspects such as arpeggios, scales and chords, each étude also has its own original musical character - characterized by the combination of Brazilian and European cultural influences.
This edition by Frédéric Zigante sheds light on all these aspects and offers detailed notes on each individual etude. Among other things, it deals with
- the didactic aims of the piece
- various questions about the musical text (agogics, dynamics, technique, study and interpretation)
- the composer's sources of inspiration
- a formal analysis of the music
In addition, fingerings were entered into the musical text, with particular attention paid to the right hand - information that is rarely found in Villa-Lobos' original editions.
This edition is designed as a didactic edition and is aimed at guitarists who wish to familiarize themselves with this masterpiece by the Brazilian composer.
