In honor of the anniversary of the Steinway Crown Jewels series, Steinway & Sons has designed a particularly exclusive instrument for a limited circle of music lovers. Inspiringly beautiful, full of character and timeless elegance. At the same time a tribute to the craftsmanship in Hamburg.

Limited to 20 B-211 Spirio r unique pieces with stained, black veneer. The following woods were used: Olive, sapele pommele, knotty oak, bubinga pommele, macassar, cherry, tamo, maple bar, amber tree, rosewood santos, ice birch, yew, oak, etimoe, olive ash, ash, eucalyptus, jatoba, sycamore, black limba. Depending on the incidence of light, the unique veneer of the grand pianos is visible in all its facets.

Musik Hug Zurich has the No.1 of 20 - Olive Tree in stock. 8 grand pianos were produced by December 2020. A further 12 grand pianos will be produced by February 2021.

Understatement is a top priority with this edition. Clear lines of the music stand, the lid support and the lamp plates as well as the anthracite-colored Tahitian pearl embedded in the key flap underline the modern look of the grand pianos, which is also reflected in the matching bench. All fittings are finished with a black, high-quality PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating, which is harder than chrome and more valuable than gold plating. Each grand piano is numbered and bears an elegant plaque inside the grand piano case.

20 grand pianos - 20 veneers

The concept of this grand piano series is unique. Each of the 20 grand pianos is only available once, as it is characterized by its own personal veneer. To achieve this, the specialists at Steinway & Sons went in search of very special veneers. Whether olive, amber, tamo, eucalyptus or jatoba - 20 exciting woods characterize the individual grand pianos of this limited edition.

Black treasures

The Steinway Crown Jewels are an example of masterful craftsmanship. No two instruments are the same, as new, symmetrical veneer patterns are constantly being created, making each instrument unique. In the Black Masterpiece Edition, the veneers were assembled just as skillfully by Steinway craftsmen. Stained black, they give the pianos a new, unmistakable appearance. The inner case, soundboard and bridge are also finished in black, as are the cast iron plate and all fittings in anthracite.

Traditional craftsmanship meets the highest technology

The grand pianos are issued as Model B and are equipped with Spirio r, the most modern technology Steinway currently has to offer. The innovative self-playing system offers piano entertainment at its finest and also the ability to record, play and edit your own pieces.

Another special feature of these fine instruments is the cable integrated into the music stand, which can be used to charge the iPad supplied or to connect a USB stick. Steinway & Sons has never had such a device before.
