In addition to the leading Grand Feel III wooden keyboard, the model now offers SK-EX Competition Grand Piano sounds, which provide more detail and a fuller, rounder tone thanks to the improved multi-channel SK-EX rendering sound engine. This new version of the flagship Shigeru Kawai pianos uses all-new samples, recorded specifically from the player's position, for a tonal character with clarity, high definition and full attack sound.

The amazing sounds of the CA901 are routed to the newly developed speaker systems through new audio hardware, such as a high-performance DAC system and custom piano filters. The CA901 now features AURES transducers on the TwinDrive resonance board and additional front speakers. The model is also equipped with 360° diffusers for the top speakers for optimum surround sound. The CA901's unique touchscreen offers an improved 'anti-glare' display, which prevents reflections and thus simplifies operation. The user interface has been redesigned, including complete dark switching for even more undisturbed playing. The wireless connections via Bluetooth MIDI and Bluetooth Audio have been upgraded to the latest Standard 5 for ultra-low latency and better connection with mobile devices. The housings have also been optimized with a number of changes. For example, the pedals on both models have been moved significantly further back to improve ergonomics. The CA901 music stand has also been moved for more freedom above the keys. Both models are available in 4 colors: black matt, white matt, rosewood and black high gloss.
