The French composer Cécile Chaminade (1857-1944) was a celebrated pianist and one of the few women of her time to make a name for herself as a successful composer. Her music combines romantic expressiveness with French elegance and a fine sense of tonal nuances.

This carefully compiled first volume from Edition Peters brings together twelve selected piano pieces from different creative phases - including lyrical character pieces such as Pièce romantique or Mélancolie, colorful works with oriental flair such as Chanson d'orient, Orientale or Berceuse arabe, as well as virtuoso dance forms such as the Scherzo-Valse or the cheerful Aubade.
